Application of Industrial Design

    Design for Decoration

    (Jupiter)Scarp Light
    by GrayPantz

This series of scraplights came out of  love and fascination with the giant planet that shares solar system.  it is the largest of any planet, fifth from our sun, and is categorized as a gas giant. its best known feature is the great red spot, referenced in the assembly of this scraplight. we chose the four largest moons discovered by galileo to accompany jupiter.

Design for Movies

Tron Legacy via Fast Company

Electroluminescent strips built into the tire cowlings, wheel rims, and body illuminate the cycle. It is powered by a fuel-injected Suzuki 996cc, 4-stroke engine. Riders lay at a near-horizontal position astride the padded leather seat, with feet on foot pegs that control its 6-speed constant mesh manual transmission and hands on the handlebars for throttle and braking. The hubless wheels are former truck tires built up then custom-shaped to fit onto one of two counter-rotating rims spinning within each other, providing the broad-tired authenticity of the computer cycles from the movie. A chain-driven friction drum manages acceleration and braking from the handlebars. It uses a 3 1/2-gallon main fuel tank and 1 1/4-gallon reserve tank.

Design for Cooking

Slice : Pizza Cutter for Quirky

The original idea submission was for a pizza cutter that easily cut through the crust. Through multiple rounds of iterative testing we created a design that features a standard metal pizza wheel balanced out by plastic crust cutters in the front and back. The crust cutters allow you to lean the pizza wheel forward or back to cut the crust. The smooth surfaces allow for easy cleaning.

Design for Construction

Kaputt.R
Demolition Robot.

Dust, noise and unsafe environments makes demolition work one of the most dangerous professions. Working in these environments can lead to serious illnesses such as vibration disease, burns, loss of hearing or even death. As a consequence of these dangers, the Kaputt.R demolition robot works autonomously within a building, effectively replacing human workers in dangerous zones.
